Gotta Have Faith

Gotta have faith
I forgot my cross earring! OK, so I am not really that into George Michael,
at all. However, he is kind of all I think about when I see this outfit.
I have been dreaming of a bright blue blazer for a long time, so when I found
this at Forever 21, my life was complete..not really. I do like to color
blocking with this blazer, however i’m all about a monochromatic look. It’s
really easy to accomplish, just choose one bright color for an accent with
blacks, whites, and grays.
easy, chic, and clean.
Blazer and ring- Forever 21, Jeans and tank-Wet Seal, shoes-Charlotte Russe,
purse- thrifted, Bracelet- American Eagle.

Frock Party 4

This past Saturday we had our forth Frock Party! For those who don’t know a
frock party is a clothing swap. My friend Elisabeth and I host on every fall and
spring season. We have friends come over to shop through old clothes that the
other girls no longer want. the conditions are gently used and regarding the
season in which we host the party, so in this case it was fall winter
clothes.
Each girl brought 5-10 items to swap for and we separated the clothes and
accessories into price ranges that they belonged and we chose from there. A girl
shopped in each price section at one time so people wouldn’t get bored, while
others sat and drank and ate.
Whenever a couple of girls would both want the same item we would have a walk
off. Kelly and I had a walk off over a black cardigan with gold chain trim.
Sadly, she won. But I got a gold chain purse to make up for it.
In the ended we tried to round up everyone to pick out their favorites to get
a picture with them, however it was the end of the night and there was a lot of
wine and beer, so not everyone was as cooperative. Then we all went out for
drinks and eventually the most amazing pizza with honey crust.
Each one is getting better and better! hopefully it can become big enough to
get giant group of girls together!

Frock Party

Today is me and my friend Elisabeth’s 4th annual frock party. We will be very
busy putting it together today with snacks and clothing set up! I’m really
excited that this has been an on going thing for us and hopefully it can
continue and eventually become big enough to have at a venue. Possibly one at
Musica!
Be on the look out for our frock party post! but in the mean time! Here is a
kimono style blouse I got from Forever 21 that I’m pretty excited about. It
actually hangs open, but I belted it for this outfit.

Brown and Black

AT LAST! I have a working computer! So after 6 years with a dinosaur of a
dell, I now have a little Hp! so that means more styles/styling tips/personal
style.
I feel like in every girls style there is a neutral that she would probably
lean towards more, brown or black. I have always preferred black my self and
envied girls who wore brown so well. After growing up a little with my style I
realized my love for the combination of both.
It is said that brown and black are taboo, and you generally aren’t supposed
to mix them( as well as brown and navy, brown and grey). It is a lie. They pair
together perfectly, and really, any of these do! These are all neutrals so they
can all work together!
Working at Wet Seal it amazes me how much I actually have to explain this to
women. You can wear brown and black together! For those women who think i’m
crazy or are scared of this combo, I give them the perfect print to throw into
the mix: Leopard Print! It is obvious that it matches both neutrals, and it
actually helps the girls who are afraid of leopard too. It helps them where
animal print in a toned down way!
Here I use a skinny leopard print belt to seperate my brown chiffon blouse
with my black skinny jeans. I use a cognac colored envelope clutch(NOTO) to accesorize with and black
pointy-toed flats. Jewelry is something I am picky and scarce with, you might
even notice this in my other posts. I have peices that I love with pops of
interest to me and usually repeat them over and over again. Here I am wearing my
twisty ring that can also be a bracelet, which I wear every day, my turquoise
ring for a pop of color, and my brown tassel chain necklace.

MC Hair Fashion Show + Noto: People

A week ago today I attended the MC Hair fashion show featuring Noto to give Akron it’s own rendition of Fashion’s night out. Many amazing people helped in making the night. The first person, who seriously ended up making my entire night, was Lauren Ward of Noto.

Lauren is the owner of downtown Akron’s boutique Noto, where she bring city style chic clothing to Akron with mostly independent designers, including Canada’s Gentle fawn. She also has a local vintage line and some jewelry from local designers as well. The slogan for her shop is “fashion is a choice” and at the MC fashion event on Thursday she gave all attendees plenty of choices.

In the back of the salon she had a mini version of her store set up with and adorable display of accessories and multiple rolling racks full of clothing for summer and winter. I was literally dying over everything she had, especially her coat collection. I bought two things: a convertible clutch/purse and a green woven belt which I got 20 percent off of for purchasing at the event. The 20 percent off coupon was available for everyone at the even and I know most people took advantage of them. To me, this was the best part about the entire night so I do recommend checking out her store!

Other great people of the evening were Liz and Jason Of Urban Eats who catered the event with an array of amazing food. Urban Eats is located next to Musica and Noto and is full of amazing food and art done by Jason.

And the in house artist for the event Bernadette Glorioso who drew a picture from a fashion coffee table book and then painted it encouraging party goers to paint too. It was mainly little girls who kept getting in line to paint…and then there was Lindsey and I right there with them. I got pretty excited about the color pink I made.

The best part about Noto and Urban Eats is that they are ownder by incredibly down to earth people aaaandd they are right next to each other! It’s perfect! So the next time you go to a show at musica, stop in and visit them! Also please please check out Bernadette’s art! it’s incredible!

Putting Up a Fight

It is the first day of school today. I’m pretty reluctant to set foot on campus right now. One- because I spent yesterday at cedar point and am now exhausted. Two- because the first day of school simply means….summer is over? Not if I can help it.

We were lucky enough to be blessed with a week of warm weather to kick off the year which mean I am going to squeeze in every summer outfit I have before it is too late. Bring it on fall, I am about to fight back with florals and brights.(Not that you can’t wear these in other seasons, but you have to with a certain subtly compared to going all out in summer.) There are some fall trends and styles that I am really looking forward to though.

Here I am wearing my floral high-waisted shorts from forever 21. A red tank from Wet Seal. Cream oxfords for PacSun. I added some layers of bright colored bracelets and my antique ring that I got as my “class ring” in high school.(class rings are ugly, so my mom and I decided to find a unique one just for me.)

I will be putting up a fight all week until the cold sets in.
