MC Hair Fashion Show + Noto: People

A week ago today I attended the MC Hair fashion show featuring Noto to give Akron it’s own rendition of Fashion’s night out. Many amazing people helped in making the night. The first person, who seriously ended up making my entire night, was Lauren Ward of Noto.

Lauren is the owner of downtown Akron’s boutique Noto, where she bring city style chic clothing to Akron with mostly independent designers, including Canada’s Gentle fawn. She also has a local vintage line and some jewelry from local designers as well. The slogan for her shop is “fashion is a choice” and at the MC fashion event on Thursday she gave all attendees plenty of choices.

In the back of the salon she had a mini version of her store set up with and adorable display of accessories and multiple rolling racks full of clothing for summer and winter. I was literally dying over everything she had, especially her coat collection. I bought two things: a convertible clutch/purse and a green woven belt which I got 20 percent off of for purchasing at the event. The 20 percent off coupon was available for everyone at the even and I know most people took advantage of them. To me, this was the best part about the entire night so I do recommend checking out her store!

Other great people of the evening were Liz and Jason Of Urban Eats who catered the event with an array of amazing food. Urban Eats is located next to Musica and Noto and is full of amazing food and art done by Jason.

And the in house artist for the event Bernadette Glorioso who drew a picture from a fashion coffee table book and then painted it encouraging party goers to paint too. It was mainly little girls who kept getting in line to paint…and then there was Lindsey and I right there with them. I got pretty excited about the color pink I made.

The best part about Noto and Urban Eats is that they are ownder by incredibly down to earth people aaaandd they are right next to each other! It’s perfect! So the next time you go to a show at musica, stop in and visit them! Also please please check out Bernadette’s art! it’s incredible!

Putting Up a Fight

It is the first day of school today. I’m pretty reluctant to set foot on campus right now. One- because I spent yesterday at cedar point and am now exhausted. Two- because the first day of school simply means….summer is over? Not if I can help it.

We were lucky enough to be blessed with a week of warm weather to kick off the year which mean I am going to squeeze in every summer outfit I have before it is too late. Bring it on fall, I am about to fight back with florals and brights.(Not that you can’t wear these in other seasons, but you have to with a certain subtly compared to going all out in summer.) There are some fall trends and styles that I am really looking forward to though.

Here I am wearing my floral high-waisted shorts from forever 21. A red tank from Wet Seal. Cream oxfords for PacSun. I added some layers of bright colored bracelets and my antique ring that I got as my “class ring” in high school.(class rings are ugly, so my mom and I decided to find a unique one just for me.)

I will be putting up a fight all week until the cold sets in.

White and Gold

I’ve been so incredibly busy that I have barely had time to post except for little randoms from my blackberry. Missy and I moved to an apartment and I’m still unpacking/getting adjusted because work has been nonstop and when I’m not working, I’m playing. so now it’s time to organize my life and visit this neglected blog.

This is an Incredibly light, gauzy dress from Forever 21 that I accessorized with gold jewelry and a belt, and some satiny leopard flats! I love this color pairing! black and gold is preferable, but there is something great and summery about white and gold. I believe it’s the brightness that gets me. I LOVE BRIGHT! if you can’t tell by the color of my head you can tell by this outfit! Lindsey even said my head was glowing when she was taking pictures.( I love that)

Vintage Summer

I’ll admit it! Don’t really like thrifting! I’m trying to I swear and I want to, but I am very impatient and I get fed up with it unless I’m having a lucky day. Most of my thrifted things are gifts, but each item is making me realize how amazing thrifting really is. cheap, amazing, unique items? I need to get better at this!

This purse is a wonderful example. My friend Cydney got this vintage coach purse for me at a thrift store she used to work at. I think she paid something ridiculous like six dollars. AMAZING! Thank you Cydney!

My button up was thrifted by my best friend Elisabeth from a vintage shop in London. It fits me perfectly!

Believe it or not I thrifted my ring. See, I’m trying.

Thrift shopping saves you money and gets you cool original pieces for cheap! Who knew? apparently everyone.

Other Items: glasses $3 at Wet Seal, shorts $15 at Wet Seal, bracelets $4 at Forever 21, shoes $22 at Charlotte Russe.

I'm really excited about my new tattoo!
